Liposuction

Our goal at getsixpackabs.com is not to promote liposuction, it is to provide you with the necessary information to make an informed decision about cosmetic plastic surgery procedures.

Exercise and dieting are great ways to lose fat and gain muscle. However some fat deposits may not respond to exercise and dieting. Opting for liposuction may be an option in these situations. Liposuction is not an easy way to get rid of fat, you must continue regular workouts at the gym after the procedure.

Lipo-suction is an operation in plastic surgery which removes fat from the abdomen, thighs and buttocks by liquefying and removing the fat through a hollow needle.

Are you a candidate for liposuction? If you exercise and diet regularly and only have a few trouble spots, you would make a good candidate for surgery. You need to be firm and elastic to do well in surgery because if the skin is not elastic, it will remain loose after the surgery.

Now you have to choose the right doctor for the procedure. Not all surgeons offer the same methods of tummy tuck abdominal sculpture.

A complete abdominoplasty involves five steps:

An incision is made from hip to hip just above the pubic area
Another incision is made to free the navel from the surrounding skin
The skin is detached from the abdominal wall to reveal the muscles to be tightened
The skin flap is reattached with any extra skin being removed.
A new hole for the navel is made and stitched into place
All stiches are dressed and any excess fluid from the site is drained

A partial abdominoplasty involves three steps:

A smaller incision is made
The skin in removed between the incision and the navel
The skin is stretched down and excess skin removed
The flap is stiched back into place

The Risks:

  • Infection
  • Formation of fat clots or blood clots
  • Fluid accumulation
  • Nerve damage that causes numbness or changes in sensation
  • Swelling that lasts for several weeks or months after the procedure
  • Skin death (necrosis)
  • Punctures to the organs
  • Scarring
  • Rippling or indentation under the skin if the doctor removes too much fat
  • In rare cases, liposuction can lead to death

Recovery from liposuction surgery can take from four to six weeks and patients are advised to take this recovery time off from work. For the first ten days, a patient may experience bruising and discomfort. A supportive abdominal binder is normally worn to ensure proper healing. Patients are advised not to smoke during recovery.
